Located in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Just to the north once you get thru the entrance gate at Van Dyke and McNichols.

Joe Zerilli was 39 at the time he took over as Detroit's #1 Mob Boss in 1936 and continued until passing away in 1977.

He was so looked up to by other crime bosses of other big cities that he was given a seat on "The Commission", the U.S. Mafia's supreme govering council. This position was quite an honor as most of the other bosses that sat on The Commission were from New York.

The gang in Detroit that Zerilli founded was known as The Purple Gang. He later would head the crime family known as the Detroit Partnership from the 1930's through the 1070's.
