The Benjamin Franklin Parkway linking Fairmount Park and its East and East River Drives with the heart of Philadelphia, is a one-mile stretch of wide, tree-lined boulevard. Splendid examples of architectural achievement, housing art and educational collections and exhibits, border its length. --- Philadelphia: A Guide to the Nation's Birthplace, 1937; page 575
The several imposing structures, which may be noted across the Parkway from those described in the first half of the tour are included in the second half on the way back to City Hall. This eliminates crossing and recrossing the broad thoroughfare in the course of the tour.
It seems anything culturally relevant is along this road, between the two landmarks, City Hall & the Art Museum. Notably are the Civil War monuments, acting as gateways along this stretch of road, the Franklin Institute, numerous statues, sculptures, monuments and memorials, a few fountains, a few 100+ year old churches and half a dozen NRHP sites. To truly appreciate Philadelphia, take a two mile walk from the Museum to the Town clock and bring extra batteries for all the pictures you will take.
The posted coordinates are for the center of Swan Fountain, the centerpiece of Logan Square/Circle.
