The monument consists of an inscribed boulder with a yellow ribbon, a plaque and a time capsule.
The boulder is inscribed:
In Honor Of
Our
Desert Storm
Veterans
1990 1991
The plaque is inscribed:
May 17, 1992 -- a special dedication, memories -- sweet n' bitter recollections.
August 1990, U.S. troops deployed to a foreign land,
Saudia Arabia -- a country of sand.
To those who served with much pride,
hearts were with you -- serving by your side.
As hearts cried out "FROM A DISTANCE",
"LET THERE BE PEACE" -- everyday we listened.
United States of America flags blew in the breeze,
yellow ribbons hung and prayers were sent overseas.
Feb. 28, 1991 -- the "Gulf War" had been won,
Pres Bush sent troops home in March of 1991.
This Memorial Rock is more than a piece of cold stone,
it represents Love - Support - Thanks, you were not alone.
This Rock is dedicated to "Desert Storm Veterans"
we remember all who served in the wars of past,
"We Are Proud To Be An American". - Diana Tavis (mother of Desert Storm Veteran)
The time capsule is inscribed:
Desert Storm Time
Capsule
To Be Opened In
50 Years
