Scudamore's run the punting company in Cambridge and describe the trips on their website quoted below:

'The fashionable Quayside area, with its open-air bars and cafés, is at the northern end of the Backs. We are by Magdalene Bridge, opposite Caffé Uno. The Market Square is a five minute walk away.

Today, Scudamore's Punting Company owns the world's largest fleet of punts, with nearly 150 craft available for hire along two routes.
Punts today are usually 6 to 7 metres long and 1 to 2 metres wide. They should be propelled by means of a 5 metre long pole, which is also used to steer. This method of propulsion is known as "punting"; just using a paddle to move along doesn't count!

Our punt tours let you sit back and relax whilst our expert chauffeurs do the hard work. Our spacious 12-seater tours punts are very comfortable, and come equipped with blankets and umbrellas. We offer tours for both the College Backs and Grantchester.
In addition to the punting-only tours described in this section we offer combined tour packages, which bring in other, complementary, off-river tours or services.'
