Ames Plow Company was likely related to or part of The Ames Shovel Shop that at the time was in North Easton. This company has had a long existence throughout the 1800s and still exists as the company Ames-Tru Temper. Thus, the plow was likely made in the 1800s. The date represents about the middle 1800s.
The tavern has framed the original lease signed by John Hancock, and Oliver and Oaks Ames.
