Confederate Monument, a 15-foot shaft made of granite, dedicated on April 26, 1877, at the cost of $375.
The monument was erected in 1877 in the Old Cemetery by the Ladies Memorial Association. In 1899 it was moved to the intersection of Liberty and Peace (now 6th) Streets. In 1942 it was moved back to Old Cemetery because it presented somewhat of a traffic problem at the downtown location.
