It tells the story of surveyers and their roll in the mapping out of the state and the nation. Baseline Road (or 8 Mile Rd.) is the East West survey anchor.

Base Line Monument is the first of a Michigan statewide series of sculptures that incorporate art with local history. The Base Line Monument is truely a work of art created by local artist David Barr.
