Lacking adequate facilities for football games for Roswell High School and the New Mexico Military Academy, the City of Roswell sponsored this field which was built by the WPA in 1936. Consisting stone bleachers and incorporating a stone wall which surrounded the facility, it served its purpose well.
Over the years it has been modified, losing the changing rooms under the bleachers, but it is still used for a variety of sporting events among which are youth soccer and Christian School football.
