The train left Springfield, Illinois on February 11, 1861. It passed into Ohio at Cincinnati and made its way to Pittsburgh then on to Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. On February 15, 1861, in the tiny village of Hudson, 6,000 locals showed up for a chance to see the next President. The following day, the train made it's way east to Buffalo, New York.
The train depot is gone as are the tracks. This marker sits beside a paved park path in this historic town.
