Primary customer for the silica quarried from the sandstone at this site is AFG group in Surgoinsville and Kingsport, TN where it is converted into plate glass sheets and other glass products. The pure, bright white sand is also popular with golf courses.
The quarry can be easily seen from the lookout point up on Clinch Mtn (see Waymark WM74RR) almost like white ski slopes.
