A beautiful camping location nestled in a small valley near the Waianakarua River's north branch. Only 2 km off of State Highway 1 between Christchurch and Dunedin, this site is very quiet and well worth an overnight's stay.

Located just west of the of Herbert, this Department of Conservation campground offers longdrops, a barbecue, and running water. There are walks in the immediate area and it provides a good location to explore the area from Shag Point to Oamaru.

For more information on the Glencoe Scenic Reserve view this website.

Due to the turning radius on the final curve entering the campground, long wheelbased RVs should not enter this area. If you are uncertain but want to check for yourself, stop beside Camp Iona and walk about 300 metres to the curve.
