Camp Murphy was a RADAR school in WWII.Known as the Southern Signal Corps School.Living quarters accommodated 854 officers and 5,753 enlisted men.There were almost a 1000 buildings at this camp at one time.Most were sold off when it was closed.Some evidence remains.Camp Murphy was opened in 1942.After it was decommissioned it was turned into a State Park in 1950.
