At the time it was built, Mallory Mill was the second largest free-standing building in New York. Its four stories housed three water wheels that generated the power for the grist mill. Unfortunately for the owners, the water supply would freeze during winter months and the building functioned as a grist mill for only a short period of time. It was used for storage before being converted to a winery in the 1880's. More recent owners also have used it for storage. The mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 9, 1999. When we visited it, it had a for rent sign on it.
