This 155MM Howitzer is on permanent display and is the prominent feature at the courthouse. It is in very good condition and seems to be well maintained. When I visited it I could smell gun oil which I took to mean it had been recently worked on.
This gun has a range of approximately 10 miles. It weighs 12,400 Lbs. and is towed by a 5 ton truck. It takes a crew of 11 to operate and the shells are 94 Lbs. It is capable of firing 40 rounds per hour.
It was used in WWII,Korea and Vietnam.
