Zwölfaxing is situated south-east of Vienna and south of Schwechat, the population is about 1.600. Between 1938 and 1954 the village was a part of the 11th district of Vienna, since 1954 it belongs to the Lower Austria again.
There were some excavation from the Pannonia era, e.g. Avars' tombs which are amongst the largest in Austria. In 1938 a "Fliegerhorst" of the Luftwaffe was built here, the building serves as a barracks of an tank batallion No.33 today.
On my way from Schwechat, from the north, I didn't find any welcome sign. This one is located on the street to the west, to Lanzendorf.
