The O'Neil Barn is in Cuyahoga Valley National Park on land owned by Metro Parks Serving Summit County. It is located on Bath Rd and just off the Deer Run Trail. It was constructed in 1944.
In 1972, the family of William and Grace O'Neil donated their family farm to the Metro Parks. The park (O'Neil Woods) was named in honor of the founder of the General Tire and Rubber Company, whose son, M. Gerald O'Neil served nine years on the Board of Park Commissioners.
The O'Neil family had used the land for gentleman faring, horeback riding and family gatherings for two decades beginning in the 1930s. Fifty head of Herefords also grazed the land.
The O'Neil house was still standing across the street when the land was acquired by the park, but since has been demolished.
The barn has been refurbished and painted red since the original waymark posting.
