Officially, Gold Brook or Stowe Hollow Bridge. Unofficially, Emily's Bridge, because Emily haunts the place. There are several dramatic stories about why Emily hangs around:
Emily was crossing the bridge on the way to her wedding when her horse bolted, throwing her to the rocks below; she died later of her injuries. Either that, or she was run down by a runaway team.
Emily was jilted by her fiancé and hung herself from a rafter.
Homely Emily fell in love with Donald, who got her pregnant. When her father insisted on a wedding, Donald killed himself here. Following the death of preemie twins, Emily did the same.
A googling returns variations of these stories, as well as first-hand accounts of encounters with Emily. From what is related, she can be pretty threatening. On the other hand, there are also various debunks, and one woman who supposedly made up the story to make her kids scared to go across the bridge.
Either way, there are locals who will not cross the bridge alone or at night.
