From the inventory: "The sculpture depicts a nude female figure seated on curving tree trunk. Her proper left leg hangs over the side of the trunk, slightly bent at the knee, and her proper left foot touches the ground. Her proper right leg is braced on the tree trunk with the knee bent and drawn close to the body so that her right elbow can rest on the thigh.
The sculpture sat in the sculptor's studio for twenty years, but after his death in 1945, it was given to the University of California by his wife and daughter. It was then placed in storage for two years and in ca. 1948, it was installed in the inner courtyard of the Women's Gymnasium. In 1968, after the donor asked about the sculpture, it was moved to the faculty glade."
