Long Description:
?The proceeds from the project became the Cheyenne Depot Museum Endowment Fund, an effort to ensure the future success of the museum. The boots were sponsored by local businesses and then auctioned at a fundraiser. Nearly $100,000 was raised at the auction.
The 'Boots' are approximately 8 feet tall and 8 feet from heel to toe and have been carefully painted by local artists to show Wyoming's and Cheyenne's history.
The finished large boots of the public art campaign are still very popular and are displayed at the Cheyenne Depot Museum Complex and by businesses and organizations around the Cheyenne area. The 'Boots' continue to generate great enthusiasm and visits to each of their locations.
The Cheyenne Depot Museum Foundation fundraising projects of the last few years, 'These Boots Are Made For Talking' 2004 and 'These Boots Are Made For Talking', Part 2, 2005, have generated tremendous interest. This local and national interest has prompted the Cheyenne Depot Museum Foundation to offer custom made boots to businesses, organizations and individuals around the nation.
