Long Description:
Simple memorial featuring the prow of a ship and blocks with the names of the four chaplains on metal plates. Commemorates the unselfish act of four chaplains who voluntarily gave up their life jackets to others and then, with arms liked on deck saying prayers, went down with the ship. Also has Lifesaving rings inscribed with the names of the Dorchester and the three Coast Guard escort ships involved. It also has a granite block with the names of the men and women from Zapata who served during WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm.
