Long Description:The Scots' Church is located at the corner of Collins and Russell
Streets in Melbourne's City Centre. This was the first Presbyterian
church built in Victoria. The first service of this congregation
was held in 1838.
The church was architected by Joesph Reed (1823?-1890). Built in
1874, it was designed in the Neo-Gothic style (revival of the
medieval style of architecture was popular in the 1800s). Reed also
designed many other nearby Melbourne iconic buildings (Collins
Street Baptist Church, St Michael's Uniting Church, St Paul's
Cathedral, Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne Town Hall,
etc).
