"The Beecher Railroad Depot was an integral part of the Village of
Beecher community. The establishment of a depot often enhanced the
community's development, and Beecher was not an exception. Clear
evidence of Beecher's emergence as a prosperous railroad community
is still exhibited in the extant historic, commercial buildings in
Beecher's downtown. Businesses such as the livery stable, post
office, general merchandise stores, and creamery were established
shortly after the establishment of the depot within close proximity
to the railroad. According to several sources, this depot is the
only remaining building of its type existing in Will County. As a
result, the rarity of the depot building together with its style
heightens the importance for its preservation.
The Beecher Railroad Depot was designated a Will County Landmark
on June 21, 2001.
Location: West side of Reed Street, North of Penfield Street
