This sundial by Giovanni Francisco Zarbula is on a large house on the left as you drive into Les Verneys from the Col du Galibier. This is a significant sundial as the original dial showed the construction lines which Paul Gagnaire used to deduced Zarbula's method of constructing accurate vertical declining sundials. It shows the classic Zarbula folk art style with a frame, bird and equatorial line. Alain Ferreira provided the picture of the original. The dial was restored by Eveleyne and Norbert Peyrot in 1998. SAF Catalogue 73 306 04

This is one of only two sundials by Zarbula in Savoie. Getting over the col is still difficult these days as it is closed by snow for about 8 months of the year. But is open for the Tour de France race!
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
