[FR] L’abbaye Notre-Dame, fondée entre 659 et 666 comprenait trois églises : Saint-Pierre-au-parvis, Sainte-Geneviève (disparue) et Notre-Dame.
De cette abbaye détruite à la Révolution française il reste la façade et les trois premières travées de la nef de l’église romane du 12ème siècle, l’église Saint-Pierre, où en 1953 a été inauguré un monument de la déportation.
Dans le square, deux baies de l’église Notre-Dame témoignent de la richesse du décor roman : chapiteau aux feuilles d’acanthe, chimère à tête humaine, monstres dévorant un personnage, oiseau de proie.
Cet ensemble roman est intéressant car peu courant en centre ville. Il est aujourd’hui mis en valeur par le jardin et par les illuminations du plan lumière.
[EN] The Notre-Dame, founded between 659 and 666 was comprised of three churches : Saint-Pierre-au-parvis, Sainte-Geneviève (destroyed) and Notre-Dame.
Of this abbey, destroyed at the time of the French Revolution, there remains the facade and the first three spans of the nave of the Romenesque church from the 12th century, the church of Saint-Pierre.
The Romanesque ensemble is interesting because it is seen very rarely in the center of a city.
