The Needles District visitors center is a must stop in order to spend your time wisely while visiting this area of what is a sprawling park.
A place to get maps and personal help, they also have an audio-visual presentation to orient you to the Park. The displays focus on all aspects of the park, with the geology of the ares being emphasized.
The Needles District is a long ways from anywhere so to speak, so if you plan to visit it, an early start is needed. Just be aware that the Visitor center doesn't open until 9 am. Its a place where the younger set can participate in the Junior Ranger program, and the older set can buy that must have souvenir or get their NPS Passport stamp fix.
