Long Description:
The Langer’s House were originally
two late-Gothic houses which were later joined and rebuilt in the
Renaissance style. From this reason has Langer's house two numbers
- 138 and 139.
A corner oriel was added at that
time. While the front and rear wings of the house are from around
1530–1540, the yard arcade access balcony was added a little later.
Sgraffiti with motifs from the Old Testament, which distinguish the
house from surrounding buildings, date back to 1579.
According to tradition, house N°.
139 is one of the oldest in the town. The widow of Jáchym of
Hradec, Anna of Rožmberk, was among the owners - she moved here
after her husband’s death in 1565. In 1586, both houses were joined
by a rich Hradec burgher, Cech of Kozmácov. An exhibition and sales
gallery is located in building N°. 138 and concerts and chamber
theatre performances are held here. An internet café is also
located in the house.
