J.D. Adams is credited with inventing the first successful leaning-wheel pull grader and this Road Patrol towed grader was built by the company he founded, the J.D. Adams & Company of Indianapolis. Dating from the 1890's this grader by towed by horses or mules, and was used to maintain the unpaved rural farm roads of that time.
