I found a bio on the artist HERE. EVERYTHING this man has done is listed, detailed and explained...everything except for this mural. I am not positive but I believe one of the boxers is Joe Louis, Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. I am not too sure about the fourth boxer. I have a sneaking suspicion it is jack Johnson who boxed in 1908 to 1915. He was the first black heavy weight boxing champion.
The artist is well-known for his style of mural painting which includes blurred edges and multi-paneled paintings, both of which are contained within this mural. A good example of his blurred edge style can be found in his Larry Fine mural, also in Philadelphia.
