This was a pleasent surprise. This memorial is the first I found with the relief carved gun, and a tribute to a Marine killed in the Lebanon Attack in 1983. I also like the small plaques on the side on the monument with the photos of the Vets..it really makes it more personal to me than just a name carved on a monument, as important as that is. This is also the first I found with photos as such. There is no place to sit and look at the memorial. It did appear as some outdoor construction was ongoing, so maybe it is in the works. It really is a nice memorial to the sons of St. Charles Parish, who gave their lives for our freedom.

"This memorial is dedicated to the men of St. Charles Parish who fought and died for their country in the Viet Nam war. Erected in 1969 in memory of LARRY PETER TREGRE. It was done by friends who died in Viet Nam. The monument stands as a tribute, not only to these men but to all who have died dso that freedom might live." "To Live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die"

Description of Memorial:
In the Courthouse parking lot, in north corner. I was there taking pic s of Louisiana State Markers, and stumbled upon this. It was behind some construction equipment. It really was a nice find, and I am glad to have found it.
