Long Description:On Centre Street in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston,
stands a statue in the center of the circular driveway for the St.
Clare Monastery (Poor Clare Nuns). This statue is roughly a
life-sized image of St. Francis of Assisi, which is the order that
the St. Clare Monastery is affiliated with.
St. Francis is known for being a lover of animals and nature. He
also founded the Order of Friars Minor, or the Franciscan Order. In
this statue, he is not surrounded by nature. Instead, he is in the
monk robe and rosary beads.
