Long Description:
The Metro
station Strízkov is a distinctive architectonic object, beautiful
not only from ground but also from aerial/space view, was designed
by renowned Czech architect Patrik Kotas.
Strízkov is a surface (excavated)
station, in which the bottom construction is solved as a classic
ferroconcrete construction. The most distinct part of the
construction is the steel set of hogging girders (span approx. 160
m), suspended glazed roof and glazed façade. The station project
includes terrain alteration of the entrance area with elevated
footbridges for pedestrians and water cascades. Park-and-ride yard
were also constructed here... It is the 1st station of about 50
Prague metro stations, which is built as fully glassed-in. The roof
level is about 5 m above ground space (the top of the structure is
20 m above ground space) and the tracks are positioned 7 m under
the ground level. The whole station area has a length of more than
120 m is without internal columns. The idea of the architect Kotas
was that the glass hall of the station will shine at night to the
open up to the neighbourhood and daylight will throw light on the
boarding point.
The station was opened for public
use in spring 2008 as the part of the new extension of the Prague's
metro C-line to the large residential area of Prosek (North Town of
Prague).
