Sculpture consists of ten figures engulfed in a flame. The figures are robust in appearance and seem to be rising out of the flame. A maternal figure dominates the top of the piece; she looks upward with upstretched arms. At the rear, an old man falls into the fire but not before handing the Torah to a young man who ascends from the flame. The sculpture stands on a hexagonal base. In front of the base is a gas-fed eternal flame. The whole work rests on a concrete mound whose pock-marked appearance represents bullet holes.
