Copied from the plaque on the base of the orientation table:
"This Direction Table replaces the Royal Doulton Porcelain Table presented by the late Sir Ernest Davis in 1928. The original table was damaged in 1983. It has been restored to its orginal condition and is on display at the Mount Eden War Memorial Hall."
