From the inventory: "Abstract figure of the Madonna. The face is carved in high relief; the torso is bullet-shaped. On the lower front quarter of the sculpture is a tile mosaic of a child's head and upper torso. The child's face has four eyes. The top of the forehead is divided in half vertically; the proper right side is pale and the proper left side is dark. A hand rests on both sides of the child's shoulders. The hand on the proper right side is pale. The hand on the proper left side is dark. The concrete sculpture stands on a low base.
The sculpture was placed at Fort Mason in the 1970s on long term loan. The sculpture was originally placed in lower Fort Mason, and was moved to its present location in Great Meadow when the area was converted from an army base to a national recreation area."
