Established in 1913 by the Port Chalmers ‘Old Identities’, the Port Chalmers Regional Maritime Museum is an interesting museum focusing on the history of the port itself and the Otago coast's maritime history.

Having moved in to the 1877 Post Office, which is made out of bluestone, this museum has been involved in preserving the local maritime history since 1913. With exhibits that range from local fishing to Antarctic explorations that departed this port, the museum features many artefacts that will delight most people interested in maritime history.
