Long Description:This is the gateway to Chinatown/International District in Seattle
Washington. This gate is located on S. King St and Fifth Ave S.
The gate is shaped as traditional Chinese architecture. The roof
of the gateway is built similar to palaces in China where those
past emperors has lived. The four corners has a slight sweeping
curvature and dragon pattern is painted on the ridge indicate hopes
of wealth and luck.
The three Chinese characters on the arch pronounced as "Zhong
Hua Men". "Zhong Hua" means "Chinese nationality". "Men" means door
or gate. You will see a lot of the gates/arches in China or
Chinatown has the character "Men" in them. It is an indication of
you are entering a community, such as Chinatown.
You can get there by take the newly built light rail Central
Link, get off at International District Station.
