In the Montcheny district of Orcières is an ancient sundial carved in stone beneath a face also carved in stone. These faces carved in stone on the sides of the old buildings are a distinctive feature of the Montcheny area of Orcières, Champsaur.
This dial on a private house is featured on the sundial itinerary, map and the tourist brouchures but no specific location data is given. We happened upon it looking for the face carvings in this remote area at the end of a high valley on the west side of the Ecrins National Park.
