The Amherst Museum has numerous artifacts and displays highlighting the history of Buffalo's most populous suburb of Amherst. The Erie Canal forms the northern border of Amherst, but in this waymarker's opinion did not play that large of a role in the history of the town like it did in nearby Tonawanda and Lockport. Despite this, there are several hands-on displays geared towards kids that illustrate the history of the entire canal and how the locks worked. There is a $5 admission fee to enter the museum.
The stamp reads as follows:
Erie Canalway NHC
Amherst Museum
You will need to ask for the stamp at the admission desk as it is not on display.
