Stroll through the butterfly garden, climb the observation tower located on the winding boardwalk through coastal hammock, sit in a Chiki hut, visit the saltwater tanks brimming with marine life, including sea turtles, fish, sharks and rays and take pictures in our sea turtle garden with 7 giant turtles.

Beginning at the break of dawn on March 1st until October 31, the Boca Raton Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program based at Gumbo Limbo Environmental Complex conducts nesting research on a stretch of 5 miles of Boca Raton's beaches. Researchers are looking for evidence left behind from one of the three species that regularly nest here.

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center offers a variety of nature programs that appeal to all ages.

Many of our programs are family oriented, while some are “kid-only” or “adult-only.

Along with our conservation efforts Gumbo Limbo gives you a unique peek at this living fossil's life cycle. Knowledgeable staff conduct tours to the beach that allow you to view one of these magnificent creatures nesting. Tours are held mid May to mid July. Due to the volume of requests for this unique program, tickets must be purchased in person at Gumbo Limbo. Tickets are available the 2nd Saturday in May.
