This Firefighter and Peace Officer Memorial occupies about five acres of Trinity Park. Randy Gideon, with Gideon Toal was the principal architect.
A massive bronze sculpture, by Jack Wilson, of a firefighter, a police officer, and a riderless horse stands in front of two walls of names that list randomly all police officers, firefighters, and marshals who have died in the line of duty.
Black granite kiosks that take visitors through several eras of Fort Worth history line a path, from parking to the sculpture, telling the stories of some of the fallen heroes.
Construction was completed by Balfour Beatty Construction.
The Memorial was dedicated June 5, 2009, memorializing 95 fallen heroes.
More than 800 individuals and companies gave a total of $1.2 million to fund the project.
The Memorial is open for visitors from 5:00 AM to 11:30 PM every day. The displays and paths are always illuminated.
