Built in 1930, the Ideal was one of the earliest constructed for the purpose of showing talking pictures. It's spectacular neon marquee is a wonderful sight along McEwan Street.

My best source for information on theaters lets me down on this one.
According to (
visit link) the Ideal is an Art Deco style theater (the marquee is a dead give away), built in 1930. It is a single screen movie theater that seats 450 people.
