Long Description:It is estimated that the yew tree is 1000 years old and it still
grows held up by props for support. There is a small sign in front
of the tree stating that with the adjacent hollies this tree would
have seen pagon worship long before the advent of Christianity.
The tree was damaged in a gale in 1976 and the hollow trunk
broke away leaving just this part of the root system and tree
surviving. It measured 28 feet in height in 1971 before the gale.
Please treat the tree with the respect it deserves.
