The Josefuv Dul Reservoir's was constructed during years 1976-1982 and it is the largest water reservoir in the Jizera Mountains (Jizerské Hory; North Bohemia). Reservoir has two dikes (total length 720 m, maximum height 43 m) - they retain 23 millions of cubic meters of water (area 140 hectars). The reservoir is a main source of drinking water for towns Jablonec, Liberec and also Ceská Lípa. The water flows through a tunnel to the water treatment plant in village Bedrichov.
The purpose of the Josefuv Dul Reservoir is not only water-supply, it also protects against floods villages on the upper reaches of Kamenice river.
