The Prince of Wales Mine dropped to a depth of 193 fathoms below surface, for a length of about 200 fathoms. 10 different minerals were found in the mine, the largest being tin ore of which 18000 tons were extracted.
The first reference found for this mine was in 1580, the mine was worked on and off until 1914.
