The Village of Waldron was incorporated in 1905. The area was first settled in 1835 by Russell Coman under the name of Canaan. The area later became know as South Wright. By 1877 it had taken the name of Waldron which it keeps to this day. The Village and its nearly 600 residents are located in Hillsdale County about 2 miles north of the Michigan/Ohio border.
