On Central Avenue, just off Everett Square in the Hyde Park section of Boston, there is a benchmark mounted on raised part of the back entrance to the Hyde Park Municipal Building.

To reach the mark, from Logan Square, face the Hyde Park Municipal Building, then proceed to the west (left) side of the building down Central Avenue. The mark is on the landing to the right, approximately 100 feet from Logan Square. The survey disk is mounted horizontally, approximately 2 feet from the outside wall of the building, about a foot from either edge of the raised portion, and about 3 feet higher than the sidewalk surface. When facing the door, the disk will be on the right.

The mark is a bronze disk with the following markings. Along the outside edge are the words, "Benchmark," then "U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey." Inside these words are the usual warnings about tampering with the disk. In the center is a circle with a line through the center. Above the line is the hand embossed identifying designation, "U." Below that is the year "1923." Below the circle is the elevation at "76.785 [ft]."

The mark is in good shape, with a few scuffs and gouges; not bad for being there since 1923.
