"In July 2007, the Town of Sidney was awarded a BC Government
Spirit Squares Grant for the design and construction of a new
pavilion structure in Beacon Park. The pavilion structure and
surrounding landscaping are designed to function as a multi-purpose
venue for a variety of community and cultural events and to serve
as a gathering place for community residents and visitors to the
Town. Since it was opened in June 2009, it has become a prominent
waterfront destination and focal point in the downtown core.
The structure was designed by D'Ambrosio Architecture &
Urbanism and built by StructureCraft Builders Inc. Construction
commenced in December 2008, and was completed in June 2009. A grand
opening event was held on June 28, 2009, to officially open the new
performance venue and celebrate the new community gathering
place."
