Inigo Jones designed the Devonshire Gates for Berkeley House which was constructed in the late 1600's at the what is now the corner of Piccadilly and Berkeley Street, where the entrance to the Green Park Underground station currently is located.
When the Berkeley House, since renamed to
Devonshire House, was demolished in the 1920's to construct a new hotel and flats, the gates were moved to their current location as an entrance to Green Park.
The Devonshire Gates were
recently refurbished as part of the Princess Diana Memorial Walk.
