At Monument Square in the center of Portland is a striking red brick building known as the Lancaster Block. This building has six stories, and has the word "Lancaster" over the entrance at the fourth story level, and "1881" above the entrance at second story level. There are many smaller details in the Queen Anne style facade.
The building was four stories tall when it was built. Two more stories were added in 1924.
