This is Seattle's biggest library branch. The building is 11-Floor high and is a glass and steel building. The new building opened in 2004 and the project has received $20 Million from Bill Gates.
Rem Koolhaas and Joshua Prince-Ramus of the Dutch firm Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), working in conjunction with the Seattle firm LMN Architects, served as the building's principal architects.
In 2007, the building was voted #108 on the American Institute of Architects' list of Americans' 150 favorite structures in the US.
The library was featured in the Sunday Strip as the first of five modern urban architectural designs by architects Rem Koolhaas & Frank Gehry. The urban structures are being discussed by Zippy and Griffy." or something else that links the strip to the waymark a bit. (Credit: TheBeanTeam)
